In High School, there were a couple band attempts outside of school, mostly practice.
My first successful band experience wasn't until early University in 1995 after joining The Suitables as lead trumpet plus horn arranger. We played ska shows on the east coast (primarily Richmond, Virginia), recorded the demo cassette "Party at Steve's" and released "Bubba's Girl" as a single on the 1996 "DC SKA!" compilation.

Fairly soon afterwards, the hair-stylist guitarist decided he was to be our alpha male. Charismatic singer Chuck Paschall left, with me following right after, leaving the remaining 6-8 members (big horn section) to recruit a girl singer (and others) to form The Eskalators with some success. They split when the local skinhead scenesters too had enough of the guitarist and kicked him out of town. I'm told he fled to Florida.
The Suitables allowed for the discovery I belonged on stage, dancing with a trumpet.
